How many of you have dropped a trailer?

I accidentally forgot to lower landing gear on empty trailer once, but didn’t drop it, only slid off onto frame rails before I realized it.

We have a concrete plant here as well and the operator told me how to estimate the weight.
I’ll get the photo from my other phone.
It was a local load. Few miles down a side road.Last edited: May 10, 2020

Ive never dropped one but this year a coworker who runs a short trailer with no landing gear at all, for some job i never been to that hangs up landing gear feet, dropped one turning into the truckstop. Trailer passed him and smacked the prettiest truck on the lot.

Just saw a dropped trailer video where instead of spending 30 minutes working the landing gear to raise the loaded trailer, he lowered the suspension of the truck, stacked blocks of wood on the frame, backed partially under the trailer then raised the suspension to raise the trailer. This make lowering the landing gear easier. What I don't get is that if he could get under the trailer at all, why not just keep backing up and hook up the fifth wheel? Maybe he couldn't get low enough, it is hard to tell in the video.
tommymonza Thanks this.
