The closest I came to running out was in Louisiana last month. I managed to eke out my run to a TA that gives me the best fuel discount and put 187 gallons in 200 gallon capacity.

I almost decided to buy 20 gallons before that stop, as insurance. But I had just installed a new fuel sensor in the truck I just bought, so I was testing the limits. Worked out this time, but WON'T be another.

I probably shared the story a few times I was north of Medford OR, got a satellite msg not to fuel in CA that week because of fleet miles being too much fuel in CA (OVER my paygrade.) Destination Texas. Hmmm. Full tanks.

Nursed her south on 5 until east to Phoenix and Tuscon. I think it was right about 1600 miles out of that set of tanks. I had to stop at 4 seperate 50's era fuel areas until I found one with actual fuel. It was like one of those bad Freddy Movies where your nightmare repeats. I thought every time that big detriot turned over it was like another gallon gone and began to measure my reefer tank (100 minus whatever burned...) evaluating if I could get to at least NM.

I don't think you can get much more than that. Ive wondered though. 2000 out of 320 gallons? Too risky.

Im guessing that's why KW and Peterbilt installed a low fuel light for drivers that don't have enough sense to fuel up when there supposed to:)...

Actually they forgot to continue to allow the big dog Petes to drip now and then in anticipation of the day's run ahead....
