"I'm getting out of this business" and 2 weeks later decide to pick up a dedicated account? Is the business really that fickle? The guy runs a few trucks, and says..."screw it, find another job I'm getting out of this business" then 2 weeks later, he's picking up dedicated outs, and looking for a dedicated back haul for it. Replacing tires, and repairing the trucks again.....I just don't get it.
Do all O/O do that?
How many of you O/O types do this?

Hey mods, can you move this to the "ask an O/O" section? I put it in the wrong one.
Lilbit Thanks this. -

Thanks, now maybe someone will answer it for me. I'm trying to decide if I want to go to work for this guy or not.....he's kinda confusing.
-
Maybe that was his easy way out to cull some bad employees.
-
Nah, not that.....he's only got himself and one other driver. The other driver is the one getting the dedicated run/truck repairs! Thats what got me.....two weeks ago, he told the guy to find a new job, he was getting out of the business, then he does this! I swear the guy is bipolar!

You don't just "get" a dedicated run as a O/O, they're not just out there on trees for the picking. It sounds like he was tired of the hassle and was going to call it quits until he found this regular run that presumably pays well enough that it convinced him to keep at it. The real question here is why don't you just ask him instead of asking us to psychoanalyze him?

panhandlepat Thanks this. -
If he switches his mind that often then "run" don't walk from that dipstick. You will get taken if you end up working for him.

I'm not asking for an analyst, just wondering how many O/O's do that? Swear their getting out, then go find a dedicated route? It just seems a little strange to me.

Its happened to me. Just when your ready to call it quits something comes along that changes your mind. I bet theres alot of company owners not just in trucking that have done it.
Brickman and panhandlepat Thank this.
