HAHA! I've known a lot of O/O's that do that exact thing. They get disgusted with the job and want out. Give them a day or two to cool off, things are back to normal. One guy I know has offered to sell me his truck and trailers for cheap, ( I can pick up his work with the truck) at least 3 or 4 years in a row, but he decides to keep it one more year every year. It's a concept that many consider, but rarely follow through. I know I've had the very same thoughts myself! HAHA! It gets in yer blood and doesn't seem to get out.

After those numbers come in you can look up "absolutely worthless" in the dictionary and see my picture.

One of the truths about business and trucking is that nothing lasts forever and change is inevitable. Dedicated runs and good freight come and go but it seems that the good is getting farther in between. For what we sacrifice in life sometimes hauling a bunch of crappy freight for an extended period of time is depressing and frustrating. As an O/O my life generally consists of looking for freight, hauling freight or fixing/maintaining the truck and trailer. There's little time or energy left for much else. Personally, I've learned that I like trucks a lot more than I like trucking so I find it easy to get the black@ss when freight gets lousy for extended periods of time. So I understand the screw it attitude you describe. And then you hit a month of hot loads...

I did the exact same thing. I was with Landstar and going broke, then moved over to Schneider and made some money on their choice program. Then I got tired of being gone and decided to give it up..... a week later I got a dedicated chemical tank run and love it. I work 4 days a week, make great money and have Fri-Sat-Sun off. Too bad it took me 7yrs to find it LOL!!!
