A few years ago....
"When you get to the yard grab trlr xxx and take it to Cbus."
"When I get to the yard I'll have 15min left on my 14. You gotta get someone else."
"All the local drivers already left for the day."
"Then call them back, deliver it yourself, or explain to the customer how you screwed up.. again."
I stopped taking crap from anyone many years ago.

I made it to the heifer. Then recalled a number of them who took it upon themselves to make life difficult as per company policy for drivers.
I remembered now why I took a years worth of blank forms for everything so I will be gone that long and not miss HQ and all the cows within.
As luck would have it a few winters ago I had that exact similar converstation with another cow regarding the merits of shutting off the truck at -10 I told her sure, I'll do it, but YOU will be making a call for a tow truck now big enough to tow everything to the shop after delivering it's load downtown. (Yes as in docking the trailer with the tractor attached...) and calling the bank to make ready for a 5 figure unplanned expense to defend the oh so precious company policy against running trucks in the dead of winter.
The very best of companies I am intensely loyal to are usually filled with truckers from the top all the way to the excon working the phones because he lost his class A doing something bad in a big truck early in his life.
In the early 90's I made plans to make winter irrevelant. I told my dispatcher to keep me on I-10 in the south no matter what happens all winter until spring time or early summer to bring everything home to indiana. She did. Had me pipe east to Fla and chain back to texas from fla for like 5 months that year. Beautiful rainy Tee shirt weather the whole time. No ice, no snow no problem. And the money took care of itself.
I should have done that every winter. If i knew how much more you can make that far south away from the land of snow, ice and no. -
So ur stuck in a blizzard,u could die from the cold and all u think about is that ur wife is not an authorised driver?and who's going to verify that shes on the driver seat?gokiddogo Thanks this.

The guy was saying that he couldve died and i replied worse case scenario call 911,if its a choice between u surviving and the truck getting towed whats ur choice gonna be?

Can we keep from generalization of all women being some kind of ruminating species? I am a woman and find it offensive. Good and bad coworkers aren't restricted to a particular gender.

Friend, I understand and I agree with you. It wouldn't have ever gotten to worse case scenario because I'm a natural born A Hole. It's not about my survival, it's about me showing an a hole dispatcher that I am better at being an a hole than he is. I would have called 911 BEFORE the truck had gotten cold and went to a motel. The truck would have gotten towed. And I want break down pay too.Middleagedrookie, DDlighttruck, LoneCowboy and 3 others Thank this.

lol had one in particular ,was at a small company family member was dispatch but she got married and was moving away and she took the time to ask what we wanted to keep us happy ..I liked the Canada west ltl 20 + out 6-8 back sun -Thursday on a set 3 run rota was happy as a hog in ****,,,others liked the usa California runs or texas (laraedo) runs . now they brought in an x big meat on the seat dispatcher and things went to hell in a handbasket ...texas run guys were put on Canada only and vice versa everyone was upset.......even speaking to him on the phone it was like him against the drivers do as you are told or else. Well I got in one Thursday night was told by todd to deliver it in the city I asked hr pay like the city guys no cpr !!!!! well I thought it was only going to take an hr so I did it .
back to yard was told to wait untl noon then go home (90mls) .checked in at noon given my run# for sunday -Friday so off I went home was about 10mls from home when todd phones come back urgent run east needs to be there on Monday afternoon ,told him I was due a reset (Canada rules) as didn't have enough time off last weekend (he had me run in late) so he says change your log sheets well I say hell no way so he hangs up on me and safety man phones me up I tell him check my logs and do the #s ,so he does and says no can do .have a nice weekend off.
By the time I get home I have a message on the phone telling me the weeks preplan is cancelled call Monday........phone Monday ahhhhh nothing doing ,phoned back wednesday same thing ....ok I think I'm being shafted so phone the big boss up ......and it goes like this ..yes james whats the problem ,something wrong on the run ??? ...no boss I'm sat at home Todd says no work available !....a couple o minutes pass and james what trailer were you preplanned for ? so I tell him # and he says ill phone you back. So phone rings and boss says can you meet your truck an trailer at *** and the city guy can run your car back to the yard .........I say Todd says no load ...boss says don't worry about him he is my problem,,,,,,, Meet the city guy and he tells me the boss pulled the plug on todds computer and escorted him from the yard ,seems about 10drivers long timers had put their notice in due to him.. following week we get a letter from the boss apologising about him taking his eyes off the business and things would get back to normal asap and it did(city driver old hand took over dispatch). Todd ended up a B888n lasted about a month before getting canned there as well. -
I choose not to answer cause if I do I would probably get banned. Im sorry I shared my story. I will make sure it never happens again.
