not so happy though,, ended up leaving about 6months later when I found out that they were starting straight from school rookies 1cpm more than myself and the other Scots driver were on !!! wouldn't budge was on same cpr as when I started 30months earlier and I was on 1cpm more than my scots friend. also not happy as being taken for a mug losing $100 a month fuel/idle bonus as had one o the few trucks without an APU and a good bunk heater.(was below company ave so no bonus on fuel way above on idle )told them it was different running at 39tn on gravel in north Canada in winter at -30c than texas at 36tn on interstate . but what did I know just an immigrant driver with 26yrs experience.

My dispatcher is the bossman/owner's wife, so... i know when to shut up, LoL.
bzinger Thanks this. -
I work for a mega and their trucks are set to auto shut down after 5 minutes of idle.
However, If you turn the cruise control on while idleing, and set the engine rpm for just a tad higher than minimum, it will idle forever.
I use it both in the summer for air and heat in winter. -
Yeah I've toned down my Jesus stick a bit since I came to greater o ...gigs like this don't come along everyday.G13Tomcat Thanks this.

I've had pretty good luck with dispatchers, but I've been fortunate to haul either dedicated freight or out and unload then come back empty. I have had to remind a few where I was in relation to where they thought I could make it to with the hours I had.
One time in 2005, driving for Ashley Furniture, my dispatcher told me I was planned on a five stop load starting in Waveland, Mississippi. I said "I'm not going." She said "Excuse me, but you are going!" I said, "well, according to the weather channel, Hurricane Katrina will be making landfall around that time, so I'm not going". She hung up, called me back a few minutes later and said"ok, we've pulled you off that load". My choice was a smart one, the town of Waveland and most of my stops were destroyed by Katrina.LoneCowboy, bzinger and G13Tomcat Thank this. -
Lmao...reminds me of last winter when I told greater o I would not be going into NYC or Philly in a blizzard
The cryed and wined but then Penn , ny and nj did me the favor of closing all the roads to commercial vehicles. -
Hey, they don't have any risk involved right? When it snows or ices up down south, you just have to wait it out. We only have a few plows statewide, and we rely on salt trucks and sand. I've heard dispatchers try to convince the drivers they could make it somewhere, I always tell them not to go. The road gets shut down, and they get stuck in a daycab on a ramp in a truck with a shutdown idle, cranking it back up every ten minutes. Probably the worst sleep you ever got in your life, plus the bonus of losing half a day's pay on these Elogs.bzinger Thanks this.

I don't take ANY crap from my dispatchers! They've never given me any. They're all very professional and treat me with respect. It's pretty nice!
