How many of your companies are struggling to find drivers?

Well I'll tell you another thing that irks me and this is also why companies can't find and keep workers. The company that I work for I think they try to screw us on driver score card bonus. So about 3-4 months ago we switched to a new system of driver monitoring and it really hasn't been bad. I got a full bonus and everything last quarter which was fine.

Now all of a sudden this week I've had 2 "harsh events" in a row. One Monday and one today. I haven't had a "harsh event" in 3-4 months and suddenly I have 2 back to back. Somethings rotten I smell a rat. So I walked right into the office and of course our monitoring loves loves loves to charge charge charge with crimes and atrocities, but never actually tells you what you did wrong, great justice system...So I went into the office and I said pull up my score card I want to see where this thing thinks I went wrong.

So one of the lower level bosses pulls up the thing and he's telling me, it says a "hard turn" in a parking lot today.

I said to him what does that mean?
He of course really couldn't articulate or explain it well. And I said "Oh I got it I understand, to many people got the full safe driving bonus last quarter so now adjustments have been made to knock everyone down a bracket so the company doesn't have to pay out safe driving bonuses I understand."

He tried to deny that claim, but he knew I was right.

I said "So this thing is going to hang me on some made up BS." Only I actually said the word the forum won't let me write it up, but that's what it is.
"He said well no your over all score is an 98 which is really high those other 2 will eventually just go away."

I walked out of the office in abject disgust.

The problem is there's just way to much injustice and inequity in the world and you know it's probably always been that way because after all life's not fair. But, it's game playing like that, where they move the goal post prop up a few people so they can say no look it's honest and then once the numbers are worse and getting worse they move the goal post back where it was because they don't' want the numbers to get to low, because when they get to low it makes management look bad and we can't have that. It's that's kind of stuff, that and I've said that will push me out of there. We go through these ebs and flows they move the goal post to knock everyone down a bracket and avoid paying out "bonus" payments and then the next quarter they move the post back where it was, to make the numbers look better because you know one bad quarter well that'll happen, but 2 bad quarters that reflects poorly on management and you can't have that.

All that is stuff that eventually will drive me out of there, I just hate being lied about.

You know what would be nice, and I would appreciate and I think other people would to, if management was honest and said "You know were not interested in paying any more quarterly bonuses so were just doing away with all that." I could get behind that, that would be honest. Now they won't do that because if they did you would have people beating on and flat out abusing the equipment even more then it already is because why not? But, at least that would be honest and I could say okay to that.

But all this is why these companies can't hire and retain people, but you know what there's so much bloat and dead weight and pork that makes up the stuffing of the corporate apparatus and so many low end managers who are so thrilled to be off the road and riding a desk a couple days a week that they can absorb the shock for upper management thus stopping the crap from floating up hill. As a lower manager your job is to be a shock absorbed for higher management. And most lower level managers take it , take it and take it because they have to much time in and are past the point of no return that they are trying to make it to the other side and they have to just tow the line right or wrong.

It's why the low end managers at the DSNY (Department of Sanitation New York City) are all unionized have you ever heard such an absurd thing? Management has to unionize against management because low end management wasn't getting a fair shake. It's all so totally off the reservation.

I'm at the point now where everyday when that stupid computer lies about me that's one push closer to me buying my own truck. If I had more landscaping work I would do that full time, not there yet, but but if the company keeps pushing eventually they could push me out of there. I've gotten all the major company awards and metals by now, so my list of things to prove is getting smaller, I don't have as much to prove. You know it's sad when I started I thought this will be it I'll probably retire from here, now at this point I'm really not so sure I'm also not so sure that eventually we won't be bought out by US Foods or Sysco I'm not going to say that could never happen.

I don't think I saved it, but is that picture of the truck at our warehouse that blew off the lot and into the tall grass still up on the Canadian drivers facebook page? I should have saved that picture to my computer, but never did.

Don’t let them get to you Mike, but sometimes it eventually could be good if they get you mad enough to find something better. Do plenty of research before you make the jump to your next gig and do it when you are ready and on your terms.

Well it's taken over a week and I've finally managed to climb my self out of the absolute hole I was in and am back to a 99 score, but it took almost 10 work days to undo 2 days of very questionable damage.

Then you can’t go anywhere. You need to “train” the people who currently judge you how they need to properly do their jobs. Until one day you are running the transportation division.
