How many orientations did you go to at the beginning?

Well, my first orientation was a bust. I don't have good enough upper body strength to do flat bed. (and problems at the school) But that got me to wondering, how many companies did you try before you stayed at the one you are at?

Yeah to a degree. I was (just) able to pass their physical requirements on the tarps, but I was in so much pain later that day I realized that it wasn't for me. Found out the next morning after I left I was gonna be cut anyways for my (lack of) shifting abilities. Which kinda ticked me off since they put me in a truck I had never seen and didn't even know what kind of gear pattern it had

The only issues I could foresee in a flatbed orientation is inability to lift tarps, climbing a load to unroll tarps, or possibly handling chains. First thing to remember you have 2 types of flatbedders, the wiry ones like myself 6'2 175 with 2% body fat and strong like an ox (or) the overweight older ones who could tarp in 15 minutes, chain down plate steel and coils and have been all around the country and know the shizzz! Point is if you want it toughen up, do some dips, push-ups and snatch that tarp up, pass the test and join this great brotherhood of flatbedders! Good luck and drive safe-See u soon!

That's the reality of the real world. We have all been thrown in an familiar truck and had to drive it. It may or may not have a sticker indicating the shift pattern or transmission type. That's one of the things that sorts out the boys from the girls. Did you even ask your tester what transmission it had or what the pattern was?

Me, I just went to one. And then another one. Oh, and another one after that...you get the idea, right?
