well to be fair you should have known,

a 10 speed only has a range selector unless its a super 10 which are rare
a 13 speed has a red button on the side for the splitter
a 18 speed has a grey button on the side for the splitter

Why should he have known what tranny is in there? There are some oddball tranny's out there and without a sticker the only way to find out is play around with it and see whats what and for somebody new to this, that might not be the eaisest thing to do.

if theres no splitter its an 8LL a 9 or a 10, all of which you can drive the same (you will find out real quick which one it is and can adjust your shifting at that point)

the 10 spd is also the most common transmission

What video? (In other words, no.) Yes, supposedly all of our teachers were drivers at one time or another. But also, I went to night school which lasted from 5 pm until 7:30pm each night. Didn't get (in my book) anywhere near the kind of training I would have liked. But, I can drive that 13 speed with no problems...

Sounds like a sheety school. Most school even though they are still only 160-180hours run 8 hour days, so while your rideing while someone else drives (a good instructor) SHOULD be shareing his wisdom and experiance with the trainees.

But unforunatly most instructors are only there because them messed up there driving career (job hopping/bad dac/tickets/accidents). If you can find the good ones you'll end up a much better driver in the end.

Well, I took what I could get without having to go to one of those "CDL Mills" where I had to work for them for a year. So does this mean that since I can't drive a 10 speed very well (since I haven't been able to practice) that I'm gonna have even more trouble finding work?

if you cant figure it out ya.... But if you can drive a 13 you can drive a 10, its the easyest transmisson to use, one of the reasons so many companys use them.

    How are you at driving?

How far from Myrtle, MS are you?
