How many overweight tickets can a person get before they lose their license?

not for overweight, probably had an inspection done at the same time and thats where the points come from!

 

I used to run heavy every single day, sometimes 20 to 30 thousand pounds overweight hauling around scrap metals in roll off boxes, that was not worth the risk of getting a fine...didn't pay well enough. IF and that's a big IF there is money involved that changes everything...

 

I pay no overweight tickets. The owner of the cattle pays. That's why I don't mind.

 

Yes the owner of the scrap company paid as well, but my rate was not high enough to have the risk of running so heavy, i'm sure yours is.

 

it was local job. the only inspection was weight check. no logs or bol's. he was checking EVERY TRUCKS weights that rolled into the pit.

but if you noticed. i said i had 9 months before it disappears. means it happened BEFORE the csa BS kicked in.

 

Plenty of people will still hire you if you go in and say "if you pay my tickets im ok with running heavy and I have the overweight tickets to prove it"...
Tell them thats why you have so many, because you do what the truck owner wants you to do. That will help your job hunting prospects.

 

CSA2010 took information from carriers SafeStat roadside insp 3 years prior when it became public. No carrier started with a clean CSA report in the spring of 2011, the start of CSA.
There are NO CSA point for being overweight. Besides what BASIC would overweight fall under? Cant be under UNSAFE DRIVING because if it were unsafe to be overweight no overweight permit would ever be issued.
And besides CSA doesn't issue "points" to drivers, they are given to the carrier on behalf of the driver.

 

Just remember when out in the country, look for Grain Elevators they have scales.

 

I have hauled corn in a 40ft hopper gross 121,000 before. I could have done it all day long as nothing ever seems to be done until there is an accident. Got out of grain hauling few years ago but once I get my own authority I will be going back into it. To bad CSA doesn't apply to farmers.

 

I'd assume that the fate would lie with in the officer writting the ticket. I know for sure a lot of times it's just the way they want to write it up. They can write it to show on your record under the right code or can write it up as just a fine. I'd assume they would consider how flagrant the violation was, your state of mind, and the occurance of it happening again.

I know a driver that got written up with a felony with a point for being over weight. That's here in Cali though. I here the TX DOT is pretty bad to.

I'm going to keep my oppenions to my self. Although I have never gotten an over weight ticket in my ten+ yrs. Of driving. I've been driving long enough to know that sometimes you haft to do what you haft to.

It might be creative logs, blowing scales or what ever. I never been a full on straight goody two shoes myself.

But if its come to the point were your worried about it affecting you driving privledge you might haft to think how far is far enough.

If shippers are making good enough money to ignor regulations, your pretty much on your own.

Drug smugglers only care about their product. If their runners get cuaght, they get some one els, and so it goes on.
As long as a money poors in without it directly affecting them They'll continue to smuggle it.

Like wise if you loose your driving privledge it's on you, Your boss will just get some one else.
Not saying you guys are as far out of line as drug smugglers, but I bet he'd leave you out to hang if it came down to it.

I would haft say, the money would haft to be pretty dam good to put my live'lly hood at stake.
