What are these "scales" thingys ya'll are talking about? Is that the little house with the stoplight out front? Ya know, I see one of those every once in a blue moon when I'm empty; but when I'm loaded? I can't find hide nor hair of 'em. At least not with anybody around... I do see dark ones on occasion, though.

You guys kill me, "Ain't movin'" :-D

The closest I have gotten to those little houses with the stop light was in winnemeca nv. and I had to take a taxi cab ride to see that.

In tx they come and find you, escort you to the scale and then fine you. Just got an overweight, the fine might be up to $7000. 20800 OW for farm road + axle. Tx just upped the fines in sept and the super troopers are being aggressive about it.

All these Billy Big Rigger Stories are pretty funny! The bottom line on the overweight tickets will be when you become insurance disqualified. It doesn't matter if the order buyer or whoever pays the ticket it's gonna hit your pocket when you pay the insurance premium. The friend earlier that couldn't hire on with 38 overweight tickets in10 years was probably insurance related.

LOL, thats what plenty of east coast driver think... 'till they get to Banning. "My trailer is 6 inches off the ground and covered in cow poo". Thats why they have a pit with a plexi glass cover over it, cameras in the ground looking up at your under carriage when you roll across the scale, and they cite you for excessive dirt/oil/cow poo under the trailer.

Was it one of those FM roads posted at 53,580 or something like that? I was told that wasn't a real regulation because I've been to plenty of places located on those roads. Something about TXDOT built the roads to take 80,000 lb but the engineers didn't sign off on it or something. Many of them are STAA highlighted roads.

Don't try either one at the WA port of entry scale on I-5 North, blow by and the WSP will be on you like stink on you know what.
Go around you have a good chance of getting caught, they patrol the back roads looking for those trying to get around, had recent write up in the local paper about a bunch of truckers getting caught trying to get around and they got some big tickets.
