    The best thing that could happen was to have FMCSA send a couple of officers undercover as students ...BUSTED !
    I've been told by FMCSA inspectors they used to send officers as new drivers to suspect carriers . They nailed quite a few .

    You are supposed to get a certain amount of time behind the wheel with those courses y'all are basically allowing this guy to not do his job and still get paid for it while you only hurt yourselves. Classic.

    I wouldn't go calling FMCSA as he might be doing it just because you all are allowing him to. I would tell him man to man first and if he doesn't stop then I would start raising hell and looking in to escalation.

    They have probably been denying students proper instruction for years . They are overdue for being held accountable . Time to pay the piper .

    I would go to the Dean of the school, or someone in charge. Let them know what is happening and that is a violation of federal law. Make sure they know that you didn't realize at first that it was a violation, but now that you know, you will no longer do it. Also let them know that if the instructor continues to tell you to break the law you will be calling the FMCSA and letting them know what is happening at the school.

    If what your saying is true, that instructor needs to be terminated immediately, and the school needs to be investigated to make sure that they were not condoning the actions of the instructor.

    You are in violation if you exceed 11 hours driving and/or 14 hours on duty without a 10 hour break. You are also in violation if your logs aren't current up to your last change in duty status. Being a student, it's unlikely you would be subject to the 60/70 hour rules.

    Of course under FMCSA regs, you do not even have to maintain a log book if you begin and end your driving each day, and stay within 100 air miles of the school. I'm sure this applies to you. If stopped by DOT and they ask you for your logs, just tell them you do not have to maintain a log for this reason.

    AW , BS . The school hired and pays the instructor . The school is accountable . Shut 'em down and set an example . They are probably getting our taxpayer paid WIA funding .

    Go back and read 395.1 1(i)

    A driver is exempt from the requirements of Section 395.8 (Driver's record of duty status) if:

    The driver operates within a 100 air-mile radius of the normal work reporting location;

    If he records a false log within 100 air miles he is still falsifying a government document and committing a felony . This is poor instruction
