What I always wondered is how a company like Swift can keep insurance since it seems like so many of their drivers are destroying something. Are they self insured?
I'm clueless as I've never driven for the big companies.
How many Swift trucks do you pass in a day?

I wouldnt' swear to it but I would bet that Swift is self-insured. However, there are 7 or more large, well-known carriers that, by ratio of accidents/power unit, have a higher percentage of state-reported accidents than Swift. One of those well-known carrier's ratio is over 1.5x that of Swift! It's all a matter of proportion....and exposure.59Panhead Thanks this.

Swift really is the butt of the joke simply because there are so many of them. They earn some of the reputation themselves. I say it is what you make it.Schmidtrock and JustSonny Thank this.

Absolutely, I've seen one or two really good Swift drivers and some that were total crap. But that holds true with any company. I've seen Large Car O/O's do some pretty stupid stuff too.JustSonny Thanks this. -
Yes they are self insured.
I've always thought the same, man. If I had gone by all the stuff I've heard and read, I wouldn't have gone there. But I know people talk just to do so and I went with it anyway. I haven't looked back.
I would fall in this category, lolol! Three years with no accidents, incidents or anything. I can't afford NOT to be careful. I like and need my job to the point that I never try anything I don't think I can do.59Panhead, Schmidtrock and JustSonny Thank this.
