I'm headed home right now. Deliver in the am.. 30 mins from home. Shutting down till mid Jan. Maybe longer if the weather up north acts up.

Truck is paid for. I have money in the bank. A little vacation will do me good.

I'd rather be running on Christmas this year than be home for it, but my sister and brother-in-law kept crying that I'm not home enough. So by default I am going home the morning of and leaving that afternoon... everybody wins :biggrin_25523:

Though finding a load to load on Wednesday or Thursday is looking to be impossible. They all want to load Friday!

I usually shut down in mid December and go back out in early January. One of the many benefits of owning my own.

yep! I'll be home for the holidays, not a OO any more, but when I was, had brokers call me, trying to get me to take a load, sorry, not desperate for money, so! I'll spend my time with the family

Exactly right. Really no such thing as gouging. When a hurricane wipes out the gulf coast and gas or diesel shoot to $5 a gallon or more everyone complains it's gouging. The truth is there's fuel available for $5 a gallon if anyone really needs it. With refineries busted if it was still $2.50 a gallon it'd be gone and no more fuel to be had. Same thing with freight. A broker complaining that they can't find trucks at $3.50-$4 a mile is at too low of a price point to motivate any of the trucks. If they raised that rate to $5, $6 or whatever per mile those trucks might appear or maybe it takes more.
