So, I'm crazy and thinking of trying truck 1 more gen, third times a charm right. My wife and I are both retired and all our bill's are paid and we have between 1k and 1500 left every month afterwards with out touching our savings.
Anyways, i have driven truck all my life (I'm 46) but never did it full time except in 96 97 otr. Anyways, after i retired in 12, I decided to go full time locally. In 17, we decide to buy a log truck and start that. 2 months later we were running 3 full time and then #### hit the fan and we lost it all. (Failure 1and 100% my fault) Well, after my knee replacement, We decided to buy another truck and go OTR together. It was actually fun and enjoyable and the locked up the motor. After 3 months got the truck back but it wasnt the same with the lease company and she had to go back to work. Eventually that failed as well (Again my fault due to getting frustrated over my back issues)

So, now I'm wanting to buy another truck and either reactivate my authority or lease to a small mom and pop. However, I'm sure my wife is going to push back because she wants me to build a shop and work on atvs and sxs.

So, how many trys did it take you to succeed?

Maybe drive local as a company driver and let the truck ownership go . Still so good money on the company side if you have the right endorsements

Do a lease-purchase with John Christner Trucking. When the lease ends, you buy the truck for $1.00 (one dollar).

:biggrin_25520: Mercy sakes, some people never learn,,one failure was enough for me, ( well, 2 actually, including my marriage BECAUSE of trucking failure) If it was the ludicrous 80's, I'd say, sure, why not? I did it. While Chinatown is our eternal optimist here, which helps balance out the negative, but you'd have to be a fool to do anything like that these days. Really, do something else, sell plexiglass panels to stores or something, but trucking today is a foolish venture, and the "next" failure could have dire consequences. Insurance alone will break you. Don't feed into those crooks.

    kimbosa and Coffey Thank this.
