I've hauled waste product I think the shipper was paying to get rid of, so I'm going to throw a negative number in the mix.
How much are loads worth? (literally)

I'm with david. I once hauled a loaded 53' van to a landfill. Same company though I pulled ~30,000 lbs of nook ebook readers.
Now I'm on a dedicated run doing auto parts. 60 parts per rack and 10 - 18 racks a run at about $120 per part retail.

HotH2o Thanks this.

I would say that if you have $100,000 cargo ins..and the broker gives you the load, that should give you a ballpark idea..I think.lol
-
the vast majority of loads are worth less than $100,000. That is what most common carriers carry for cargo insurance.

Agreed, they did not start out right with 'you ain't gonna believe this ####' !!!Dinomite Thanks this. -
I have no reason to doubt some of the posts except maybe two. I've hauled loads of pharmaceuticals from Miami to Houston when I was in training teaming. You run non-stop and you do have an escort. They don't tell you but you can't help but noticing the same guys back there the whole trip. The bills don't reflect the contents either other than pharmaceuticals. We didn't live load/unload. It was drop/hook on both ends.
Electronics are high end. Just think what a load of them new Iphones cost.
One thing you don't do on the road is brag what you are hauling. You are just inviting trouble. I remember running with a group and one driver bragging he had a load of old cash going to an incinerator. I knew he was fos but you just don't do that stuff. -
My loads are always the same. $500.00 worth of scrap paper.
-
It really depends on the load itself.. With containers you have anything in them ranging from no value to millions of dollars. Like it was said earlier. Nothing to die over.
-
Sorry about that... I was just made up that stuff about actually delivering them so I could sit with all the cool kids in the next truck stop.
