Ha! I remember you...you got that 5K suit... you should not have to worry about trailer permits! They're nothing![]()

Yeah it's not so much the cost just the hassle of making sure all of the permits and such are updated with the correct data.

Quite honestly, I never heard anything about trailer permits or any renewals at least in Illinois other than that one time registration. It could be some hassle when you buy it out of state, in which case I've no knowledge of what's needed. I bought mine in my area. The day I picked it up they gave me temp plates and I put it to use right away (after I added it to insurance). 10 day after I got permanent plates. No bureaucracy involved ever since. I just have to do annual DOT and that's it.

Does my business need to be in Maine to have Maine plates? I see lots of large companies have Maine plates. Apparently it’s much cheaper there.

I only recall the registration and an annual DOT inspection. To my knowledge, the permits are only for the truck. Some permits, however, may ask for your trailer. So if you have your own authority, you may need to update some of your permits such as UCR. Registration in my case was somewhere between $50-$200 for one year. I plan on getting the multi-year this year to save time and maybe even money. The dealer set me up on the one year without asking me about the other options.TruckRunner Thanks this.

No. Maine Motor Transport, look their number up in google; phone numbers aren’t allowed to be posted in this area.
You don’t have to be based there to title and plate. -
My dryvan was $1000 down, $410 per month. It had brand new tires on it when I got it and I've had it for 1 year now. Tires are still in great shape. Just gotta be careful with those forklift guys
