I would like to move south myself, and out of the Chicagoland cold weather. But it seem there is always something keeping me here. Personally I think if you are in the trucking industry California is the last state you would want to be in. I am thinking of Texas or South Carolina myself.

California is a great state lived there my entire life we just need our wadges to go up along with costs like they used to a person didnt have to be rich to live in cali he just had to have a good job Im tired of working 14 hours a day to get bye. If i had never done anything in life i would not complain but Im a state certified equipment operator and a truck driver and its not cutting it.

I just moved from CA to Chicagoland and live so much more comfortably on far less than 36.20 driving a dump truck here! Where do you get paid that kind of money in Chicago??

In Lake count Illinois. The reason the pay is that high is because our work is very seasonal you will be lucky if you work 9 or 10 months out of the year.I usually enjoy the time off and collect unemployment.Plus that is union scale wages with benefits,I usually work about 1500 -1600 hours a year time and half after 8 hrs. average about 55-60 grand a year.Thats what happened to me I went out to California for a couple weeks last month and liked the weather and didn't want to come back east to the cold weather and thought to myself I would like to live here.

$36 is nice but not enough to get me to Chicago... But living in Illinois most of my life, nothing would get me into that city...

As mentioned above, we too are looking at North Carolina... Nicer winters and not so #### hot and humid as it is down here in South Florida...

Give me 20 acres away from anyone with good access to an interstate and the rest will fall into place.

$36.20 for a heavy equipment mechanics.

Not for drivers unless your hauling explosive.
Or military equipment of the classified kind.
