I’ve done the math on at least 15 companies.
I don’t see how you will make more than a company driver, and the chances of owning the truck after are very low, and the miles will be so high it will have no value.
Not to mention the fact that as a company driver, they at least match your SS. The age of 62-67 will get here much quicker than you think it will.

Ok I'll answer this to the best of my knowledge ...yes it is better pay then a company driver but you have to put in very hard work. You become a owner operator/driver/part time mechanic/business man ...if you can handle all these hats you are gonna succeed. I sometimes take home after deductions as much as $3000 to $3200, I average $2800-$2600 a week. There are bad weeks , there are great weeks, there are poop weeks ...I've seen $6000 checks and I've seen $100 checks ...its how hard you want to work and most importantly it's how much attention you pay to your equipment

Word to the wise don't do it.. Call and ask these companys or find proof on how many Finish that L/P.. Not many do and thats a problem.. You can easily make $1500 a week as a company driver. Even if these L/P Drivers are making 2,500 lets say. They gotta pay takes on that so thats Plus pay for Health insurance which normally isn't cheap.

    Fight Club. Erectile dysfunction.

I agree with the guy that said we should talk about money openly. Its only positive. The worst that can happen is we realize we arent making enough, so we force change.

I'm guessing you are getting out of Trucking what you have been putting into it for 30 years.
I have never been taken advantage of. Never paid too park anywhere. Have never paid for a shower.
I buy milk if I want at a Kroger or Meijer grocery store...yes, Truckstops are expensive, same as 7-11 is.
Bananas are 29 cents a pound at Meijer this week ...approx 5-6 bananas. I carry cleaning supplies if I get caught up at a dock.... my pay is avging....$1785 gross per 5.5 days. Nobody has treated me like Crap, except for other drivers...sadly. You should have done something different 25 years ago... still time for you to do a life mulligan.... seems it is not working out for you.

I do better as a skateboarder leasing at Prime than I did as a company driver here. Even after all the expenses and taxes. If you cant stay out 5+ weeks at a time then only go home for 3-4 days stay a company driver. It's a walk away lease and the weekly fixed costs are insane. That's why you cant go home often as a lease driver, you'll keep paying for everything except gas and dig yourself into a hole that will take 2 weeks to get out of.
