You will have to set asside enough for bills plus food eating out for a while . I worked a full time job while I went to school at nights then I went to a local company that decided three days of training was enough for me.then Iwas put on the road on my own .

You won't have a few weeks with no pay unless it takes that long to get assigned to a truck.
    1 week at most.

But starting in the slow time of year might not give you much of a paycheck each week, at first.
All of us are struggling right now to get the miles we need to pay the bills.

I think that question can only be answered by you..

Do you smoke, eat a lot, snack all day, drink coffee, sodas energy drinks.... I could go on..

best to get w/ yer mentor, stop at a wally world get some water ($0.88 gal) Generic snacks, not named brands, same with sodas, if you drink them. instant coffee crystals, if ya drink coffee, cause ya can bring a mug from home, go into a truck stop and nuke yer water and add in yer coffee and use their sugar, creamer etc.. buy the $0.88 cans of chef boyardee... buy a pouch of tobacco.

its endless to the cheep food/items you can pickup at that place. Yea its generic, and not top shelf food/drink or smoke, but atleast it can get ya thru the hard times before you start getting paid.
If ya cant afford to smoke, well then its a great time to quit ! get a mentor thats a none smoker. easy. lol

Once yer coded and get a tractor and go solo then ya can read up on cooking in your truck cheep. What items you should aquire along the way to make life more simplistic... etc

good luck and as Moosetek13 stated.. its slow right now, and miles are are light.. Dont expect a whopper of a check out the gate.
Word of advice.. Run everything you are sent, yer a company driver and get paid the same empty or loaded yer not buying fuel so take that load, so what if its 79mi run it, the more yer running the more yer making and the more yer DL will see this and help keep you rolling up to a Platinum status and get larger quarterly bonus.. I think they still do that for Co. drivers.. right?

good luck and see ya down the line

    inkeper Thanks this.
