$3000 a week after taxes and all operating expenses?.
I drive by long lines of container haulers nearly everyday in Newark and if they are bringing home even half that, I swear I will stop feeling sorry for them.
Well, maybe I will still feel sorry for that guy in the clapped out FLD patched with HVAC metal foil tape I saw yesterday.
How much do container haulers make? Would like real numbers.

And probably a couple of brakes not working or out of adjustment.

80 to 100k average for company drivers? That's awfully generous. Maybe the upper 5 percent. That's really a selling tactic to get people to get a CDL. They only quote stats from top 5 percent or less.Savor the Flavor, snowlauncher and SteveScott Thank this.

Driver shortage is politician speak for
1.18 year old interstate driver age
2.Allowing Mexican and Canadian drivers to pick up and deliver in the US.

I'm guessing he's an O/O and that's his gross, which isn't very much. If he's a company driver netting that, drivers would be lining up to get in on that gig.

I have to laugh when people suggest letting 18 year olds drive commercial. The only carriers that could afford to insure them would be mega carriers. Most smaller carriers can't get coverage for drivers with less than 2 years experience regardless of age.Dino soar, Midwest Trucker, JoeyJunk and 1 other person Thank this.

I listen to Sirius satellite radio in my truck and they run non-stop ads for drivers from a bunch of carriers. If you listen carefully to the wording, they say "Drivers can make up to $$$$$ per year". Some give quotes on the cents per mile, but they never say how many miles the driver is guaranteed to get. It's all smoke and mirrors, which is why there is such a high turnover in trucking.Big_D409, Savor the Flavor, JoeyJunk and 1 other person Thank this.

Are you sure that's a patch and not a chrome job?
It seems strange to me that the largest container problem is in Los Angeles and no one ever mentions the fact that a large percentage of the trucks in America can't run there. I have taken advantage of the emission laws and helped them get a couple of those horrible polluting truck out of their state.snowlauncher, Gearjammin' Penguin, Redtwin and 1 other person Thank this. -
There may be some 18 year olds they would want to drive but that's going to be few and far between. There are some mature kids but the kids they want to hang out and get high and go to concerts.
I agree the turnover in a lot of ways is because of Lies. Probably the schools lie to you to get your money and the megas will lie to you to get you as slave labor.
And no I do not believe the container hauler is making $3,000 a week net. Gross yes, net no.TallJoe and SteveScott Thank this.
