Loadboards are 99% broker supported, owned and would love to have your business and are not picky about new OO starting up. Just sign up for any one of them, and pay the monthly $35 fee.

Fikes Truck Line and Waggoners Trucking Co. advertise training, but you probably have to haul their freight; at least for a while. Check their websites to get the straight scoop.

Its sad and rediculous to see that you guys think a broker should have to prove how much he has on it. Afraid of a lil work? How bout workin on yer negotiating skills to get a better rate if yer not happy with what ya presently have. Do you demand to see how much the truckstop is making on everything you buy there? Why not?? I think its funny how people say the big bad broker screwed em on the rate...instead of manning up and admitting they let themselves get screwed due mostly to either ignorance, laziness or being uneducated. I have hauled thousands of broker loads and if I ever feel tgat I didnt get what I wanted, how can I blame anyone else? I can accept responsibility and not pass blame. If a broker has a van load thats goin 500 miles into a good area and hes gettin 3500 for it, you somehow think you should be entitled to at least 3000 of that?? Get off the entitlement wagon and go earn what you want instead of expecting it to be handed to you...yer makin the rest of us look bad.

The broker in that case is making $500 off of a 10 minuet phone call. The driver will have to drive over 12 hours to deliver it.
Brokers just have to answer phone calls and make hunderes to thousands everyday without really have to do anything. The trucker get one shot each day to make his money.

you're missing the point. it's all fine and dandy for the broker to use every tactic available to them to get a truck to haul as cheap as possible and maximize their profits. nobody is on the entitlement wagon here. What I'm saying is it is also fine and dandy for the carrier to use every means at his disposal to get as much money on a load as possible. And if it is possible to see what the broker is getting paid, of course I want that info. That's gotta be one of the most basic rules of successful negotiation is to get as much info as possible, is it not ?

put it to you a different way, I don't give a rat's patoot what they charge for a sack of peanuts at the truckstop. But your dang right I'm gonna check the price at walmart and buy there if it's cheaper. I don't just blindly keep paying markup just because I can afford to, get it ?

    A) the broker didn't get that account in 10 minutes

    B) Contrary to Marxist economics, 1 unit of labor does not have a universal value; some labor is more productive than others (Someone moving the people who move things accomplishes more than a solitary person moving something).

EDIT: Check your contract, some require you waive this right (Landstar?). Another of my many reasons there has never been a brokered load on the deck.
