How much I slow down in the rain depends on the conditions. I'll slow down 10-20mph while my wipers are cleaning off the road grime on my windshield. If I can't get a good view of the road, I'm not driving very fast. I also slow down considerably in metro areas because of all those 4-wheelers and their panic breaking when it starts to rain heavy. Nothing worse than a bunch of cars following too close to each other and when one freaks out and hits the brakes, they all freak out and hit the brakes. Next thing I know I'm going 35 while waiting for traffic to clear on my left so I can go around and get away from them.
I read somewhere that the first 2 hours into a storm are the worst because that's when all the oil and stuff on the road gets really slick. Eventually it gets washed away and driving isn't so bad, so I'm always a little extra cautious when the rain first starts.
I'm still waiting to roll through a town and find that large puddle in front of someone standing on the sidewalk.....

me personally I am still a little shakey in the rain and tend to back off more than others but I guess its because of the wreck I had in 2009 when a 4wheel hydroplaned while passing me and ended up sideways in my lane be fore I tagged the HELLLLL out of it..

When I say spiking the brakes I mean putting the peddle down on the floor to see what would happen with doubles. The back box would always lock first and follow the slope of the road..
After years of running I80 across Pennsylvania with doubles I figured out the lanes were pitched. I figured out US Highways were pitched by direction and not lane after playing around on them a little..
Kind of the same thing with a single axle tractor and a set - once you get used to the feel you're dropping gears and punching it to break it loose so you can feel it.. A couple years ago I used to dump gears and punch it up Snowshoe in Pa to see how the set would react - it went all over..haha..NDBADLANDS Thanks this. -
RainX, I use the kind you pour a little bit in windshield washer fluid reservoir, about half what they say on bottle. Works awsum for keeping water, muddy water, just everything off windshield. When I first started driving it was winter/spring. After about a month, spring was in full force I tried it for heck of it. The difference it makes is phenomenal, I will never drive a truck without it again.

communication. like most other people she doesn't like being hollered at. Understandably you were a little excited at the moment and it happened. apologize to her and explain that. then explain nicely what the trailer nearly did, and tell her please slow down a little bit when it rains. communication only occurs when the listener truly understands the point the speaker was making. we generally shut down when someone rants or get pissed off and shout back. you're married and stuck together in a small space, fighting isn't gonna work
