I always packed stuff for breakfast and lunch and went large for a nice dinner everyday so if i went OTR today I'd spend about $150 weekly. Currently on line haul maybe two dollars and fifty cents a week. I would not cook in a truck. I want out of the tin can for dinner.

I stay out 7 days . Maybe $50 to $60 on groceries to fill the fridge. Includes snacks , drinks, and meals prepared at home . Maybe another 25 to 30 if I find some good restaurant food .

I eat beans nearly everyday because they are high in fiber (important for a sedentary job) and in protein also they are easy to store long term and easy to prepare in a microwave.

I could afford to eat steak everyday, but I have limited fridge space and cooking them in a microwave is heresy. Setting up and cleaning a grill is more hassle than I can be bothered with.

I make good money; but, there is absolutely no reason to spend so much on food while on the road when I have a built in refrigerator, microwave, invertor so I can use a skillet or sauce pan.. I don’t always eat beans and baloney sandwiches, but love Bush’s baked beans and I do love German bologna sandwiches with lettuce and tomato and mayo! But, I have lots of variety from week to week and can’t eat fried foods or anything with MSG; so I hardly ever eat anything out.. and: that doesn’t mean I don’t make good money........ geez.....

Could it be all these drivers grew up with parents that couldn’t cook anything except Hot Pockets and so they don’t know how to eat?

Nope; we are just being more responsible to our bodies and not throwing away a bunch of unnecessary money on crappy truckstop food....
