The broker says they can be a little flexible. I wonder how much of a price swing that would be?
Seems to be a lot more loads coming out around the Fayetteville,Tn area on Landstar Loadboard. Within a 50 mile radius. The average amount of loads in this area is usually around 35.
Here's a load with a published rate......http://www.landstarbroker.com/Loads/LoadDetails.asp?loadno=17397162
How much do you think this load might bring?

That Kansas run I would never even call on it for that rate, you would have to DH over to Kansas City than fight with all the other drivers that did the same thing and not a good paying area most loads are around the $1.50/mi mark.
The coil run is not going to pay very good because the shipper is 24/7 and I'd beat its a tarp load it needs to pay $750 or so but like I said more than likely don't.camaro68 Thanks this. -
So when a shipper is 24/7. That throws up a red flag?
I learned something new. Besides coil shippers, what other types of shippers are generally 24/7 shippers? -
Rate is dependant on where the load goes but more importantly, can they find trucks?? Yea, goes cheap, nay it will go up. A load like that could get covered at the low offer or it may go for 3, 4, or 5 a mile or better ..customers needs dictate that and also depends on if LS agent lands a sucker or not.
camaro68 Thanks this. -

One thing I've learned with a van sometimes freight that everyone says "oh that's garbage and always cheap" bottled water, roll stock, etc, etc ... I have seen some fantasticly great rates on long solo hauls, when... ...they couldn't find trucks. So personally, with the work of tossing chains I'd consider anything below $3.50 a mile to be not worth it on the Kansas load. If I could get one like that at the right time with a van then why the heck would I pull it for less on a flat. Somebody will beat me up for saying that but I have seen van loads, at the correct time which isn't every day, go for 2x and more than that agent's offer on that flat load to KC. Note I said not often, but does happen.
landstar8891 and camaro68 Thank this. -
this is like talking PEAK watts on a radio or amplifier... how often do you see them?
I've pulled vans, reefers, pneumatics, tanks, dump trailers, belly dumps and everything else you can think of except car haulers and I'll tell you, what you see pulling a van day in and day out, we see it with the skateboards.. we will get stuck in CA and in FL but you won't. so said comment is out of range.
now back to subject, don't haul it, period. move on. Good luck on the next!
