you just need to take enough to eat and whatever else you want to do during the 3 weeks. Also bring enough for the permit/cdl cost at the DMV
I have seen some who went with only $50 in their pocket and some with several $100, I spent maybe $450 while I was there but that was food, some walmart shopping, cigs etc but I put aside $500 from my income tax refund for the time being there.Heru Thanks this. -
dont go. if u do go, dont go to orientation
Heru Thanks this. -
It will cost you a lifetime! You will have to stay at a sub-pare company a long time to pay it off, They treat you like a spoiled piece of meat with another one right behind you to fill the seat you vacated. I wouldn't go there!

call your recruiter. they should give you a general idea what to bring. if you are planning on leaving rite out of school, keep your luggage as lite as possible. not much room in mentors truck. and don't listen to the negative responses. everyone has differant experiences and some just can't handle the job or lifestyle. swift is a huge company, so don't expect them to know your name. and yes.. the pay is low but you should already know that. i've had issues but they been taken care of and the joob pays my bills. good luck and come with a good attitude and alot of patience and you should do well

About the only expense you'll have is your food. I ate comfortably for the three weeks for about $100. Of course, if your diet is mostly delivered to you, that'll cost considerably more.
Your recruiter will be able to tell you how much your state's testing fee will be, and if there is anything else you'll need cash for.cementandrocks and Heru Thank this. -
Does pay begin once I am on mentor's truck? (after the 3 weeks in the academy). What is the training pay, how much per week or is it mileage?
-
the pay is your states minumum wage per hour while onduty not driving. add a dollar per hour while driving.

What a coincidence, that's right at the amount of time most higher paying carriers will hire you with a clean DAC since insurance costs are so low...
To answer your question, I brought about $150, but that was for food, a few loads of laundry, and the DMV permit testing.
