It's never figured by the day . You have to figure the cost per mile then add a reasonable accepted profit .

Reasonable profit is all a matter of prospective...

I try to keep it to a cpm.. but I have it figured out to what I am doing the truck needs to do about 380 a day.. that is on 5 days a week.. I averages about a buck a mile after everything... I think the number is actually.. .987

It depends on your definition of "NET".Some people say net is after fuel, some say its after all expences(I'm one) including maintanence, taxes, insurance ect. But I (and this is just me) try to avoid cpm at all cost, I prefer dpm.

You need to break your costs down into 2 categories: Fixed costs and variable costs.

Fixed costs include things that you have to pay for every month whether you drive the truck or not. Truck payment, trailer payment, insurance, registration fees, driver pay, etc. Variable costs are things that you pay for only when you drive the truck. Things such as oil changes, tire replacement, fuel, etc.

Then figure out how many days you're going to work, and divide the fixed costs by that number to get your daily fixed cost. Then estimate the miles you will drive, multiply that by your variable costs per mile, then add that to your daily fixed cost.

    That's your 'break even' number.

Some use per mile, some use per day, some use per week. There is no one set way as there are so many different operations.
