Basically, you got 14 hours to do anything and 10 hours for your break. You get the odds and ends in that 10 hour period. Your dispatch may be for 200 miles at 8 am. you are done before lunch. but, you can't deliver till 8 am tomorrow. Plenty of walmart time.

It depends on the load. I run dedicated. Have to drop my load same day as I pick it up. Usually run about 450 miles in that time frame. In that time frame I usually have time for fuel stop which doubles as half hour break, sometimes an hour nap if needed. Run a lot.of overnights, and quick pee breaks. So, not much down time. My load goes through Chicago, so save as much time as I can to navigate traffic. After I drop, depends on hours left and next load. Ive dropped then picked up next load then shut down, or, usually I shut down then get next load. For example, due to customers cancelling and changing load on me, I got a load and ran it 400 miles in 8.5 hours. Got to customer with 20 mins on 14 shut down after that. That was 1100 am yesterday and load didnt pick up tpday till 1100 am so 24 hours downtime. Load before that though only got 10 hours off. So, it varies.
