How much employment history should I add on resume?

Companies are required to go back 3 years for first driving job.
Go back 10 years for experienced cdl drivers or drivers on their first driving job and now want to change companies.
Read the application carefully because companies can go back as far as they want as long as they meet the minimum.

 

Answer ALL the questions AS ASKED! Don't volunteer information not asked for. As @Chinatown said carriers are required per Federal Regs to collect your employment information generally for up to three years, and up to an additional 7 years for history as a driver! The main point being look at those questions carefully!

 

Remember. Trucking companies want to know your trucking carreer. Not you worked at McDonalds flipping burgers

Something truck drivers don't need.

 

Most carriers don't give a dang about most all of your non-driving jobs. The thing is part 383.35 and 391.21 mandates they get that information. Then part 391.51 requires this information to be in that driver's Driver Qualification File. All I can say is one of the first things that an FMCSA safety auditor hits are those DQFs with a hit list of drivers culled from the carrier's SMS data. If they find missing data? The fines can get expensive! Then you also get that warning of a pending return!

 

If you don’t list non driving jobs then it will show a gap in employment that many companies will want you to explain anyways so might as well list it.
