Paid off or not you should be figuring Maint / Repair $ per mile as well as some $ for eventual equipment replacement

After you pay off your house, do you not start putting that monthly payment into your pocket? Same thing goes for equipment.

Then what do you do when the equipment fails or needs replaced. My truck has been paid for a long time. I have always put money back. Not as much as a the payment on a new rig mind you but enough to buy one outright if I had to

Not sure if that was directed at my post but JUST how many trucks / trailers have you paid off , I like my equipment to help pay for the replacement and even if its a small % its figured into my operating cost that's why this year I had $890,000.00 to spend on new equipment :) with out incurring debt

No I meant it towards the OP. I know you know what you are doing. It just amazes me how so many people figure that as soon as they make that last payment their operating cost shrinks.

I am not trying to compare myself to you, either. Maybe after I have 44 years in. With the way the industry is going, I am not sure I even want to stay in it for that long. We'll see ...

I have paid off 2 trucks and owe 7,000 left on my trailer, if you must know.

    FLATBED and mrbmg Thank this.
