I keep reading different prices.. I read it was $6,000 + 18% interest... If that's the case you would have to be desperate to accept such a high interest loan that you will be paying for 10 years. Can someone that has been to the school recently tell me how much is the tuition, and how much interest rate do they tack on?

And do they have a up front payment option. Thanks.

Jakewalker it is a 30 month finance. This is the way it works,if your not able to pay off the loan yourself(i.e.pay for schooling yourself).Stevens deducts 23 dollars a week from your settlements for 30 months.Stevens pays the rest of that total as long as you continue to drive for their company. Its a one yaer commitment on the contract,im not really for sure how it works if you leave after a year.It is 18 percent interest, but the loan is paid off in 2 and a half years. It is in your best interest to attend a local school to acquire your cdl,and then look for your training company. In my case I couldnt financially do that at the time. But it has worked out fine for me.My loan is payed for and i can work for whomever i please.Good luck, whichever way you go.Basically, you pay a third of it and stevens pays 2/3rds as long as your employed.

I would get local schooling but I can't afford it. IF Stevens is a great company and all I'm sure one would not mind commiting to them for 3 years. But from all I have been reading, it seems the people that are happy there are the Alliance members that make over $1,000 a week after all expenses. Seems like the company guys get their good loads with miles repowered often shortly after they bump the docks... and also have to sit at the meat patches for up to 3 days.

The company drivers get good loads to.you hear a lot of negative things on these threads.Loads do not get repowered unless there is a reason to repower them.i.e.Its running behind,a driver is short on hrs etc.As far as sitting in the meat patch for three days, never experienced three days.Yes you do sometimes have to sit a while for a meat load, part of the business. But the flip side of that is you usually have to run hard to deliver on time, which means you get good miles quickly. So you make up any time you lost by sitting. Not saying thats always the case, but thats the way it is a lot of the time. Some guys cant handle it,they dont make it in refrigerated. The bottom line is,how many miles you ran that week, not that you had to sit a day in the meat patch. The way i look at it is,gives me time to rest and take care of things i need to take care of.Some things on these sights can be embellished a little, and its hard to discern the truth from the b.s.On the average I run 2800 to 3000 miles a week.My worst week in three years w/stevens 2200 miles.Stevens is what it is,a training company.Good training, not the best pay,you can do your year and move on.Which is what a lot of guys do.Good luck to you,on whatever you decide.
