Give me five grand and I'll take it.

Seriously though, maybe $20,000. You need to do oil samples, dyno and an ecm dump to see what you're getting into, but you're already in the window for an in frame. Personally, unless its being given away, i wouldnt touch it with a ten foot pole.

around $25k. If the engine has new injectors, new crank bearings, new clutch, new DPF maybe $28-30k

Are you guys REALLY seeing hard part engine issues at the 700,000 mark??? I know we run light and small motored DD13's, and I just had one in the shop to get the oil pickup tube o-rings replaced because the jakes wouldn't hold.

I told my mechanic to roll some bearings into it because I didn't know if I was going to keep it or not and it was already apart.

He pulled a couple of mains and rods and told me I would be wasting my money, said the motor literally looked brand new inside, this was at 900,000!!!

I also have not replaced a single turbo on any of the 8 units, no cracked heads, head gaskets, cams or anything else that was a "hard part", most trucks have had a set of injectors somewhere along the way, but mostly its been electrical, wiring harnesses or sensors.

Yeah...I don't know why people always assume you need an inframe when you hit a certain mileage. Maybe if the engine has been abused or deferred maintenance, otherwise keeping up with the oil changes and changing things RIGHT when they go bad (for instance a leaking EGR cooler) really helps prolong powertrain life.

Everyone is nervous from all the horror stories of late model engines that fly apart before 500k .

My guy, who was by the way a diehard Cat man, said he honestly is amazed at how good the new engine platforms are when it comes to block, heads, hard parts, said machining and tolerances are way ahead of where they were a few short years ago?

I just lol at guys who think a bearing roll is needed every 5-10k hours. Its not 1988 anymore. We'd have some dang reliable engines if they didn't have all this emissions junk attached to them.
