with a run away im sure the crank and cam are toast and possibly the block. min your looking at a out of frame rebuild. a replacement engine or truck might be the way to go in your case.

With all the outrageous prices on rebuilding an ISX can anyone point to the exact reason why they are so High?
I'm interested in what makes them so high compared to any other motor.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
Those figures of numbers are scary too high
i would search Chinese sites for parts , it would cost roughly 2000$ include shippingAnother Canadian driver Thanks this. -
Looks like CAT prices the funny part is I never have to buy any parts for my CAT.

I see no one has explained why ISX's are so high to rebuild.
Is there 10,000 dollars worth of new specialty tools you need to do the job?
There has to be a good reason these engines are so expensive to rebuild.
Other than that it's all nuts and bolts and you are simple seeing people push the price up because they can.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
Probably lots of good reasons. It's like wondering how someone can haul freight for half what you do and survive. Nothing out here is getting any cheaper except for rates, right?
Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
Ya, I'm not saying there aren't goos reasons but I sure would like to hear them anyway. Just Saying
Nuts and bolts is all it is.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
ISX's are more labour intensive as the cams have to come out the front of the engine, so on most trucks the rad has to come out and front of the engine torn down in addition to the other stuff. That can add a number of hours, but not $1000's. You can rebuild an engine 100 different ways. You can include different parts to replace or not as well, such as the turbo, water pump, oil cooler, egr cooler, oil pump and so on. Some guys go for all new reman injectors, others reinstall the originals. You can install a reman head, or just clean the old one. It all depends on what you want to spend. This is no "one" price for a rebuild.

Maybe they need to recoup some of their warranty losses it seems like the last 10 years they have a lot of different issues that hurt them on warranty and everybody else after warrantyAnother Canadian driver Thanks this.
