Nah, it's TOTALLY believable, but what he's not saying is that he's an owner/op, pays $1500 in fuel a month and if nothing breaks and he can keep out of the chrome shop, his truck will be paid off sometime before 2030. :p

For the record, I'm at a HHG/White glove logistics place. I've been here for about 5.5 years, I recently quit and went to a no touch D/H retail fleet and that didn't work out, the. I tried a mail carrier but the trucks were in sorry shape and I'd rather not risk my CDL on every run.

So my old boss hired me back at 50 cpm and/or $20/hr.

Problem is freight is really sluggish right now, I'm struggling to work 4 days a week and I'm doing week long trips that could be done in 3 days (5 day R/T from Philly to Chicago?!? Really?)

Hopefully things will improve in January. There's a regular contract job for 4-6 weeks I've asked to be put on.

Non-haz van, 85% d/h, home every weekend, occasionally a night through the week.

1350-1550 gross depending on how hard I feel like running.

When was the last time you moved a Space Shuttle? Two of them where destroyed in accidents and the other two where deactivated and placed in Museum's weren't they? I don't think there is much demand for Drivers that haul Space Shuttles for $10,000 a week.

Not when nasa is taking applications for astronauts at a salary range of 96-140k a year lol Heard the ad on the radio yesterday.

All you need is a BS in math, science or engineering for a mediocre salary at one of the most dangerous jobs around

Last go round they hired 8 out of 16,000 applications.

Mind you, that's for a possible mission that might take place in 16 years. If you're over 30 chances are you'd never make it into the program.

A few years ago (when there was a murder/love triangle between 3 nasa employees) I started to refer to NASA as "America's most prestigious welfare recipients". There really aren't a need for astronauts right now, save for that orbiting public housing unit we built and can't even get too without a Soviet Era Über.

And it's a job with insanely high requirements, a specific skill set, and no lateral opertunity. To top it off the pay is less than what some mid level corporate managers make.

Shame, a generation born after Neil Armstrong witnessed the space era end on TV in a middle school class room. Star Trek, Star Wars, that's as close as my generation will ever get to space again.
