Respect doesn't feed, clothe or shelter a family.

You can't pay bills with respect.

You can't buy your retirement home with respect.

Hospitals won't let you pay them with respect when you have an accident.

Peterbilt won't do a rebuild for 15,000 respects. (International might on a maxx force)

Get real driver, don't be a little beaotch. If you want someone to respect you, go donate a kidney.

The only place you will find true respect in this world is next to a pot of gold, right behind the lavender scented candles. It is on the same shelf as Obama's Hope & Change.

If someone disrespects you in front of your family, throw them a beating. But if you don't feel appreciated you should probably do something people appreciate.

I'm sorry but maybe you missed the part about this owner op running under her authority, hooking up to an already loaded trailer that he doesn't own or maintain and only having to deal with unloading before returning back for another loaded trailer all for $2 a mile for all miles?

Sounds fair to me and even if they are Aholes, what trucker doesn't have to deal with those?!

Oxbow, Mudguppy and lester Thank this.

per post 41 it is nice to see somebody with standards that wants the company well represented at delivery that is something I find to be missing in a lot of small and medium sized shippers

Not saying the op's company is an ahole, but if they are. That rate sucks. 2 bucks a mile is the mimimum base line for a quality owner operator. Minimum being the key word. The rate goes up for customers with attitude problems, or complicated freight/job sites that requires more time invested than typical.

This whole thing about respect. I hate when someone pulls that card. I don't want my ### kissed or be told how awesome i am. I just want to be treated with a little bit of common courtesy, the same way i treat every one else.

Edit to add: if you go the landstar route thinking they will get an oo to do it at a buck fifty, well you are right. They will get those loads covered, however it will not be with a quality individual. The good owner ops at Landstar will scoff at a buck fifty. The same applies for any other similar oo company such as mercer, bennett, admiral merchant, etc.

Lol I agree. I think the owner operator you're talking about agrees too!

A lot of people on this thread are ready to cut the oo throat and haul for $1.50 a mile. Go ahead, y'all are the problem in trucking right now.

With a little math you can figure out what her $2 per mile really works out to. No trailer costs or maintenance is worth what 12-15 cents per mile. Let's use 12. No unpaid deadheading. What's your average deadhead per year? 15% ? That brings her true rate up to $2.42. Preloaded trailers, even strapped already! 1.5 hour unload time. No waiting around for another load, just head back and grab another pre loaded trailer. Light loads plus 50% of miles are empty. That's worth at least a few more cents in reduced fuel and wear/tear. Steady work, all the loads you want. Home a couple of times per week plus every weekend. If I was still driving, that would be a dream gig.

Re her O/O's costs. Just because he has high costs with a new truck and high insurance, does not mean anything when it come to what the haul is worth. In my industry now there was a supplier who moved into a fancy new, high profile building and then tried to raise prices because his costs were now higher. We found a new supplier because the tile was worth exactly the same regardless of his increased costs. By the way, he went bankrupt last year.
