I tried googling this but can’t find an answer. How many inches is required between the back of the sleeper and the headache rack. I got another truck and not sure what the recommendation is. There’s no exhaust behind the cab.
How much space is required between back of sleeper and headache rack?

I went with about 1 1/2 inches from mine to the non moving bolt heads for my cab shocks on a Pete, which keeps me a good 4-6" clearance from the actual sleeper. If I could have gotten closer, I would have. 2-3 inches with air dropped would probably be plenty.
roshea Thanks this. -
I found an installation guide for sturdy lite that says 2 inches from the cab. I believe on my old truck I had maybe 10 inches. The air is fully depleted so I guess I’ll do 2 inches from the farthest part of the sleeper which is a grab handle.cke Thanks this.

Protip on your truck...
Make sure you have room between the headache rack and the fairing piece on the driver side where the fuel cap is. Im assuming the old one isnt on the truck anymore, and where it was mounted made it a pain to get fuel. -
Yeah no kidding. That rack was literally a couple inches above the fuel cap. This other one is maybe more than a foot higher than the frame. I like this type of rack better and it’s only 6 months old so ripped it off my old truck. It’s open style but it holds my ladder too.

As long as there's enough room that the cab/sleeper won't hit it during use on rough roads or with the cab air ride fully deflated. Better to have an extra inch or so than to have it too close.

Mount it to the sleeper, then it’ll move with the cab

Looking good now. I had zip ties holding the mudflap for 6 months no problem but one broke in my pickup moving it from my old truck. I’ll go to Home Depot later and buy some bolts to hard mount the flaps. Tons of fuel space.

What do the mud flaps do?
-
I went one week without the mudflaps and my 3/8 chains and binders started to wear the aluminum so much from vibration it I was worried it would wear through within a year. Maybe it wouldn’t but better safe than sorry. Also it keeps the noise down when you shift or brake keeping the chains from slapping the aluminum.Tb0n3, NoBigHurry, Highway Sailor and 1 other person Thank this.
