Between the rack and chains/binders keeps them making loud ### banging noises.

A 2nd set can be added over the outside to help keep them clean from dirt/mud/road grime. This is how Im gonna do my new set up.

I thought about having a tarp place make a 80x68” or whatever size it is and attach it to the top with bolts and then have heavy duty shock cord on the bottom.

I only use chains on maybe 20-30% of my loads and I only do 2 loads a week. Avg length of my loads is 1600-2200 miles.

Thats a good idea. New boss wants to get all new equipment for my truck, so I wanna keep it as nice as possible for as long as possible.

I've seen trucks with some type of tarp covering the rack, I'm surprised one of the flatbed supply companies dont sell something premade already for that?

If you have an old lumber tarp just sitting, you can use the end flap as a cover tarp for your rack.
Will need a bit of trim cutting, but it is already close to the size you need. If you decide to bolt the top edge, don’t just use washers, they will tear, use a strip across the width of the tarp.

I’ve got an extra 12x10 or something smoke tarp I can fashion into a cab rack cover. However my ladder goes in the middle and it is taller than the cab rack by almost a foot. It’s one of those A frame to straight extendable ladders to 14’.

This is the ladder, yes? So fold it closed like a step, then it only like 4 ft. Foot end in the chain box, put a hook in to hold the top and your good to go.

I had a foot between the sleeper and headache rack of a mid 90's mid roof volvo. We had the wheelbase to do it. Then catwalk with steps and 5th wheel sliding etc. Hung 20 chain on there.

Ive got this one. I thought 14 was the max but I guess not. This ladder is absolutely amazing though and in the A frame position I can get a good reach. Maybe if it breaks or something I’ll replace it with the showered version but man I’m in love with the one I got.
