I aint whining. I'm just trying to save a guy from failure due to being under capitalized. Certainly don't need a lecture from you about mechanical equipment...is that a joke. Hello! I am the one saying have cash available to fix stuff. I managed to get through it because the money was there.
All you superstars that made it on a shoe string are the exceptions. Do you know why there isn't 100,000 people on here disagreeing with you? BECAUSE THEY FAILED AND THEY DON"T HANG AROUND TRUCKER FORUMS.
how much start up money do I NEED?

We make it on a shoestring budget because we do our due diligence and don't go buy a bunch of toys when we see $7000 in the account.
We run a BUSINESS, not just drive a truck.

No wonder freight is cheap.
-
Right.....Not everyone is hauling freight cheap. My truck is sitting right now because it's cheaper for me to sit than haul depressed rates.
Just because you can't do it, doesn't mean others can.
And it would appear to upset you.
Sorry to see that too. -
Did I say others couldn't do it? All together now...NOOOOOOO. I said that those of you that have managed to succeed thus far with limited start up capital, ARE THE EXCEPTIONS and you are not hearing about the many, many more that failed.
Heck, even one guy said "every time I started, I started with $2500" which sums it up pretty good. Why do guys have to start so many times? Because like so many others, they flip flop back and forth from company to O/O to (maybe) carrier and when they burn through all their cash they go back to company.
This conversation has already taken more of my sleep than it is worth. I give up.
To the OP, yeah, sure they are all giving you good advice. $2500 - $4000 and you are good to go man. Buy that car hauler and surf Uship for freight. -
what is with the negativity rank, you are scaring people.

I agree with MNdriver. I just started my own trucking business and I got 2 decent trucks and 2 flats from Ryder with 20k down payment. Your quoted estimate was crazy.

0 dollars, go on u ship, find a 1 ton dually to be shipped on there then find a 3 car trailer and then find 3 cars. lol
actually i read a artical several years ago that they busted someone at a scale that did just that.
really i would say min 10k after you have your equipment in hand and even that is going to be tight that 10k will go fast. -
