Only 12 an hour. That is low in my opinion for 40hrs a week but if you can obtain 70, that is a nice pay check. Regarding pay, I have seen lower. I would expect if your local you would be paid higher and offered time and a half.

Swift doesn't pay drivers time and a half. Most of the local guys make more than 12/hr, but I am not sure which ones.

No ot either. That sucks. The other point I would like to stress is that when I was working 60+ hrs/wk I was never home and when I was I was exhausted from the doubles. The way I see it is if you're never going to be home I wouldnt do it for $12/hr no ot.

Isn't that against the law if you're an hourly employee and not paid overtime for work over 40 hrs?

There is an exemption for employees of transportation companies. No overtime.

KH: No disrespect here, but I did local with Swift a couple of years ago and was paid OT. I was IMOD, $15/hr, OT past 40 hrs. They overhired for the amount of runs they had and ended up shorting hours (down to 25-35 a week) after a month. But the 3 weeks I got 60 hrs paid pretty well: 15 x 40= $600 + 20 x 22.5= $450 or $1050. Not too bad for a 1 year rookie (at the time).

I think the pay depends on the division and area.

i was paid more than 12 dollars an hour by swift to do local. I did local for them for almost 6 months. (stopped this month)Granted i did flatbed, and out in the sun all day,it was a pretty physically demanding job. It defiantly was a lot more demading than OTR, when u tie down up to 7 loads in one day, and also yard tarp and all the pre trips on trailers....
But i put in no less than 55hrs a week up to 70hrs. It paid me better than otr and was home every night and weekends off.
