But of course loading and unloading never takes more than 15 minutes

Could be as fast as 30 minutes, could be as long as 8+ hours.
Heck I got stuck at a shipper for 8-10 hours because they were still making the bath tubs I was supposed to pick up.

I've only had 2 loads with ConWay where I sat more than 2 hours past appt time. Doesn't bother me, I get paid for it.

Doesn't matter if I get paid or not. I get $50 per hour after the first 2 hrs but I still don't want to sit.

    HAMADOWN Thanks this.

Then there are places like the slaughter houses and they make you take a mandatory 10 before hooking to your trailer regardless if you just took it or not.

I worked for a printing company that was real bad in detaining drivers. They were constantly late on running customer orders, so one of their "tricks" was to have trucks pull into the dock, tell the customer the product had shipped since, technically, the driver was there... and then start making the product. Not uncommon for drivers to wait 24-36 hours during the "bad" runs. Management never cared... they went home every evening or out golfing if the product was done or not. They refused to pay detention by paying freight bills short and got away with it most of the time.

Now I work for a company that doesn't play "games" and trucks are in and out within 30 minutes or less... the way it ought to be!

My last load delivering at Amazon took 8 hours, which was a better time than the previous time I had a live unload there.

The load I just came off of had a glitch in the BOL's.
3 water heaters that should have gone to stop 1 were sent to stop 2. Stop 2 rejected them, which made me sit for nearly a day waiting to be told to bring them back to stop 1.
Those 3 water heaters were on a separate BOL (there were several BOL's between the two consignees), and it was addressed to stop 2. But the labels on the items were addressed to stop 1.

A clerical error which cost me both time and money.
I did get some extra pay, but not as much as I would have made running the next load I had been set up for.

Oh well, stuff happens every now and then.

    Too much...
And then they ##### about 20 minutes. When they’ve held you up for 6 hours
