I just work less, and not because of break downs, I’ve missed 2 weeks so far this year with a 97 truck and realistically could of only been 1 if I wasn’t lazy,

take the depreciation on what will really make you money, the trailer, other then that, putting money back into the business is not dishonest, it’s the legal tax code, whether it be actual repairs or chrome.

I worked for Roto Rooter Once... it was a Shatty job... bada bing badda boom...

it actually does suck... and it is commission... it depended on where you live and how many other commissioned workers the boss man hires... trust me on this... it sucks. You think trucking sucks at times... you think some filthy truck drivers sleepers are bad... go into some of the houses I have been in and the piss bottles at the back row of a truck shop looks like a well groomed golf course.

I bought a new truck in '98. Traded for another new one in 2003.
I worked alot back then. Did I have to work alot? Not really. Paid cash each time.
    Big repair bills? WARRANTY !!!
    First truck: transmission, warranty
    Second truck: cylinder head. warranty.

Some people say you have to work all the time if you own the truck. No. That's when I drove company trucks.

    Disclaimer: I was/am single.

    Never regretted owning my own.
Didn't earn more than some company drivers.
But, take as much time off as wanted, including major holidays.
Service when and where I wanted to. Same with fueling.
And I could say no and not be dictated to.

A truck driver friend got hurt on the job.
    Off for 2 years.
    Sold his truck.
Was able to go back to work and got a company job.
Then he sends me a picture of a lot full of trucks.
Me : Are you looking at trucks ????
    My friend: Yes.
    He bought one.
    A few months later,
    he buys a trailer.
    He's earning alot more now.
It's the way he likes it.

Some would say that my dad over paid and we sort of agree. The 93 was 22.5 and the 99 was 26.5 but absolutely no rust never left Texas so that's a big plus. The 93 didn't have much rust either, and still doesn't. The only bad part of the 93 was the rear sleeper sil that runs across the back of the sleeper. We cut it out and fabbed up a new one that looks identical to OEM

    Coffey and Casimir66 Thank this.

It's a motorcycle shop mostly so no need for the doors to be any bigger. I have a 2 wheeled problem so my wife tells me.
