On the truck already for his company. I will still be hauling his stuff while hauling other freight as well.

If this were the case every one ton pulling four cars would be put out of service for being over weight on the rear axle, clearly you don't know what your talking about, please post links to back up your statements.

I understand your point, albeit you are wrong. The problem is most of these guys are running thinking they are not CMVs because they fall under the 10k threshold but it really doesn't matter.

Physics doesn't change, the laws don't change and no one at Ford, GM or Dodge will ever say these are recommendations for the axle limits but absolutes.

I already talked to them about this issue a few years back and got the truth about what they do and why, which I explained - it is for safety. Whether or not the state enforcement officers want to check axle weight is totally up to them, not me but if they do, then they can fine the driver and put them out of service - I've seen it happen.

I asked you to produce a letter, memo, email or what ever with a name from one of these companies that build these trucks to prove me wrong. I know you can't because no one in their right mind would ever admit to it being a recommendation to run a truck overweight because of the mess the company will get into. One reason why you won't ever see anyone print recommendation on their spec sheets.

I'm sorry Ridgeline, but your stories are not holding air, do you have copies of these tickets to post?? If not then this is a useless debate.

I run 40k on all our dodge 3500's and my cgw is 16.5k with a payload of 23.5. The irp must be registered as such. Adding the required cgvw to the irp registration is all thats needed. People ask how i do it. It's simple, i just file for it. It's all legal. I did it so that when i flirt with 36k, i'm not worried like the other guys of being overweight

I highly doubt the truck itself weighs 20,000. I had a Freightliner FL70 that weighed in at 15k with a steel bed, western hauler steel cab, Air brakes Air ride, full of fuel, tool boxes and a few air guns. Your looking at what the truck was intended to carry but it should carry more than what they put in the door. The reason they put such a low number there is to attract people thqt dont have a cdl, with the GVW @20K by itself you dont need a cdl, that attracts the horse hauling types. I had a nice western hauler, the chassis was the same grade as a single axle tractor but the pull was a struggle and the fuelcmilage was good. Ill post a pic in a few............... rear axle 22k rated truck was plated for 46k pounds and i reached it alot

Trucks curb weight is 12,900 so my math is figured as truck weight 15,000lbs on the safe side.

Depends on what your truck & trailer GCVWR is.... but we could probably get you close if we knew the rating of the trailer..
