Difference in pound per square foot.
450.5 sq ft of roof 4000 lbs of ice less then 9 lbs per square foot. Human foot is roughly 1/2 square foot with over 100 lbs on it.

Do not forget that a gallon of snow is lighter than a gallon of water since h2o will expand when it freezes.
So all your math is off.

He stated that removing the snow and ice decreased the weight by 3340 pounds. Since a gallon of water weighs 8.34 pounds, the snow and ice on his roof weighed the same amount as 400 gallons of water. I said that the snow and ice could weight as much as 500 gallons of water in my original post. I must have missed your post where you calculated the weight of the snow on his roof more accurately than I did.Lepton1 Thanks this. -

16.5 lbs per square foot -
I’m pretty sure I was in Pa and saw a scraper at a Trucking Co I picked up at. Also first state I heard of making it illegal to run with the snow on trailer. Must have been 7 or more yrs ago.
