all tanks have a BUILT IN AIR gap at the top of the tank making it imposable to fill to 100%

I've topped off several times. But always run hard afterward.
Now I just go till pump stops.
But if your tanks openings are tilted out, that affect thing by a good percentage at fill.

if a 150 gl tank is bone dry you can't put 150gl in it... read the tag on the tank

Unless you have a clueless moron with some tools and too much free time who decides they’re going to rotate the tanks a few degrees to “extend their range”

Bean Jr., Lepton1, flood and 1 other person Thank this.

    I was gonna say...

Drain tanks. Loosen bands. Rotate tanks and caps to sky. Done. Rwtighten bands.

My tanks had a plate near the caps, it stated useable capacity and a volume capacity. No matter what it has room for expansion from fuel return and from the equalizer pipe at the bottom to the other tank. I think the last one you could put in 320 total against a capacity volume of 350.

I have always clicked off at the bottom of the fill cap and never lost fuel through the cap. Not ever. A few caps were replaced now and then (With locking caps) It wont be the first time Ive lost fuel running over stuff. (That is a real expensive problem if the authorities get hold of that)

About the worst fill I have ever seen was when a company pump failed to click off and created a lake under the tractor about 4 inches deep inside the built in sunken area around the pump designed to catch overflow. That driver was pretty much eliminated from the workforce fast.

    Lepton1 Thanks this.

I’ve run my 50 gallon tank almost dry just to see how much I can fit in.

42 gallons because the filler hole is off center. It will overflow before I can get it 100% full.

My truck only holds 50 gallons because it’s a mixer before anyone asks...
