Walmart is the devil of the working man. Not to get political. But each walmart costs the local community, on average, One Million dollars in government subsidies paid to workers since their salary can not support them.

Getting fresh food is not hard once you have been out a while and learn the tips and tricks of the road.

I get a little nevose pulling off the freeway in a 75 foot truck in some town I don't know to go to a grocery store I've never been to. I hate walmart but at least I know I can get turned around.

Thats right, and the local stores and fruit stands are where you can get local farm fresh produce!
I occasionally deliver produce to the local Walmarts here, and about all they buy is the highly perishable stuff like mushrooms, bean sprouts, and some floral stuff.
Most grocery stores will have a route around back to the dock/'s and a spot close to the building on either end where you can park out of the way.

In a pinch you can always get bananas, apples, and oranges at the truck stops to hold you over until you can find a grocery store.

I've used the delivery dock more than a few times to park while shopping at a grocery store -- outside of delivery hours, of course. Have even done that at Costco when I needed some oil and other supplies, and they were right next to my pickup location.

A little planning, and a quick look at the lay of the land with Google Earth, and an adventure off the freeway is much less of a risk.

    Where there's a will, there's a way.
