Part of the allure of trucking is not having to deal with management on a daily basis, and just communicating through the Qualcomm. Just wondering those that work for the mega carriers, how often do you actually pick up a phone and speak to your dispatcher ?
How often do you actually talk to your dispatcher ?

I grew up with my dispatch from diapers to big rigs. Sooooo I remind him every day that he's a #### boy
P.s I still don't get priority :/Last edited: Jun 25, 2015
Reason for edit: lol -
I generally. Talk to my dispatcher once every two weeks just so she knows I'm still alive. Any more often than that indicates there is a problem with either the truck or the load.
Both my dispatcher and I are busy. We don't have a lot of time for mindless #### chat. She's got 39 other chuckleheads who need their hands held throughout the day, and I've got money to make. Needless to say, I'm one of her favorites. -
At my job, we do not have any dispatchers, only our supervisor, 100+ miles away. We know our job (dedicated account) so if we have an issue, like needing time off, or trailer repairs, or just need to update things, like our insurance and tax forms, then we call him when we need to. (tractor repairs, we just take it to Penske)

3-4 times a week. Gotta stay in touch even if I just need a fuel stop.

Thats one of the benefits of driving for the megas that you dont have to talk to the dispatcher alot. The 12 truck outfit I drive for requires us to call every day and sometimes twice a day and I dont really like the dude. Not always roses at the smaller companies.

A few times a month or so. Any more than that means something is wrong (truck trailer load etc)
-
More then I talk to myself.
as needed -
Only when he calls me to chew my ###. Lol

About once a month or when something goes wrong, which rarely happens.

Every macro, in and out bound is a conversation. I do call in, it doesn't mean the phone is always answered. I speak with road service a lot, over the phone, change is constant, adjust and move on
