Daily, when I ran a fleet and had drivers working for me they had to call in every morning by 10AM even if all they said was I am alive and where they are also when ever they arrives or left a shipper and when ever they got a ticket or a DOT inspection with in an hour no matter what time it was. And before the end of the day I want a copy of the inspection report or ticket,
As for todays "digital communications" companies never know if the drivers wife ,dog or whom ever is sending the text or Qualcom message,,

I talk to my dispatcher multiple times daily. I work infield crude oil hauling , doing 6 to 10 loads a day from well sites to pipeline head. Constant communication between dispatch and pumpers is part of the job. It's not all that bad , we're all working to achieve the same goal so everyone gets along well enough....for the most part hahaha!

Whats a dispatcher? I thought the people net just automatically sent me loads based on my gps location (good way for a mega to save some coin)

Only time I talk to mine is if there's a problem that can't be covered in a text message. I have his cell number and we text regularly, mostly about moonshine and women but as his personal favorite he always texts me my load options from where I'm at. Always gets the same answer "you're the boss, I just drive the truck". That answer gets me the longest load he has every time and I never have to ask for it.
