how often do you sleep at a hotel, if at all?

I very rarely take more than my 10 hour break but I have had a few cases where I was forced to wait the next day to unload . In all those cases I stayed on the clock collecting detention time so I could well afford a hotel .
When my truck breaks down and has to be in the shop overnight our fleet manager calls a hotel and pays it with the company account .
I should mention I only do 1 or 2 restarts a year away from home and am usually home 1 or 2 nights during the week .lostcontinent Thanks this. -
I haven't slept in a truck in over 6 years. Either I make it home, or I get a motel. I've had a few trips last 5-6 nights, and stayed at a motel each and every one of them. If the load isn't going to pay me enough to justify the expense of a motel, it doesn't pay enough to justify me not making it home that night.
I spend enough time in the truck during my 14 hour work day. When it comes time to take my break, I want to stretch out & be comfortable...and that just isn't possible in a truck.lostcontinent Thanks this. -
If its company paid, when ever possible other wise it's on the spur or a planned event.

I used to stay at one nearly every night. I stay at home every night now. Some Sundays I'll go to work and run a long out and back and stay at the motel near work. I drive over 120 miles a day just to get to work and back now.

Whenever I feel like a few brewski's..bout every 10 days..However I usually make it home before 10 days out.
Oh..And I get a room if in the event I get "lucky" or "unlucky" depending on how "that" goes.

Depends on the time, I do a lot of of oversized so if im stuck over a long weekend Ill get a room just so I have my own bathroom shower and i can get comfortable and not worry about anything. besides gives me and the truck a rest and time away from each other. ( just like having a wife you need a break every now and then

Back in my cabover days I would get a room every now and then just to be able to move around some after being in a "sit or prone" environment for days at a time.

Thanks guys! I was always curious about that. When I was on tour we would always see trucks parked on the side of the road

Seriously O.P. like anything it depends on the individual. When I WAS out for weeks at a time- 3-4 weeks inside a truck was my limit..However I have worked with and know some peops who do LIVE in their truck-and seem quite content with that.

To each their own but certainly that is not my style..It does not sit well with my borderline claustrophobia.
Good Luck to ya...
