Well the "10" gives you protection to a lower cold temperature. In today's world of shut the engine off instantly ( dam the turbo ) and keep it off, the 10/30 gives better cold start lubrication in colder climates.
How often to change oil over 500K?

Well did my first PM on Blackie last night, had done that is.
Going to roll with Mobile 1300. -
That works. There are worse choices. 1300 is a good oil.
KB3MMX Thanks this. -

Again, can't argue with that. One has to live within their own comfort zone. There is no one size fits all solution to anything, and there is nothing wrong with your approach. We can all make arguments for why we do what we do, but in the final chapter, we all have to do what works for us and helps us sleep well at night. I would only suggest running a oil sample at the next few changes and see how that helps with any decision to make any changes to what you are using or how long you are using it. Might as well take advantage of some of the resources available to come to a more informed conclusion. And again.... to help you rest easy at night.

Delo400 beat the 1300

Please show analysis to support your contention. Blanket statements should be supported in fact.
I cannot compare 1300 to the Delo, but I can compare the Delo 400 to the Schaeffer I am presently using, in the same motor. The Delo sheared out of viscosity to 12.7 from its starting of 14.6 in roughly 14,000 miles on several samples. The Schaeffer I am using only sheared to 13.8 in 20,000 miles and has stayed around 14 in most. It starts at 14.5. The Delo had sheared to lowest level of allowed viscosity tolerance, just short of being outside tolerance. The Delo had a Zinc of 1141 and Phosphorus of 931 where as the Schaeffer shows a Zinc of 1429 and a Phosphorus of 1104. That shows the Schaeffer has a significantly stronger extreme pressure control component of the oil than Delo. Very important for cam lobe and bearing protection. And combined with a healthy dose of Moly in the Schaeffer, a significant friction modification package. Delo had a Calcium of 733 where as the Schaeffer shows 1161, again the Schaeffer showing a stronger acid fighting and detergent capability. And all metal wear numbers have been several points lower across the spectrum on the Schaeffer than the Delo. I had 6 samples on the Delo and have had 8 on the Schaeffer. A balanced approach. I didn't do analysis each and every time, but enough to develop trend lines that are important to determine how an oil is holding up.
I have seen some respectable UOA's on 1300 and have no reason to think it is not a good oil also. Actually I am quite impressed with the latest Delvac Elite syn blend analysis I have seen from others that have provided them. The Delvac Elite is a killer oil, one that I would give a try if I couldn't get what I am using now.
Again, each engine is different and results will be different. There is no one sure perfect oil for every application. All the major brands are adequate. Some just perform better in some engines than in others, as metallurgy and other factors come into play. Only valid used oil analysis can determine if what you are using will do the job. In my case, in my engine, Delo dropped the ball.Last edited: Jan 10, 2016

So many analysis show that you google it and you can see it .
