My trailer is an aluminum armorlite end dump. Company gives us calcium chloride (I think that's what the name is) to use as anti freeze. Recently I have been hauling boiler slag. I do 1-3 loads a day (mostly 2). I am not really sure if I need to spray once a day, once every load, or what.

Hopefully that is enough information to get an answer. I can provide more if needed. Thank you :)

The only reason to use something like that for a load is so that it doesn't stick to the body. Usually any that you will spray before the load will get dragged out with a load. Calcium chloride is what they use for brining roads these days. I only speak from experience with paving so I'm not sure if the stuff you get loaded with will freeze to the body much differently than the sand backhaul.

All in all, I'd say spray the box before every load if it's going down to freezing, especially if the slag is stored outside where it might get rained on.

Every load. Unless you like frozen trailers. Trust me the CC is much cheaper and less effort then letting it thaw in a shop.

Are you allowed to spray diesel fuel? Years ago we could do that hauling asphalt, but some noses got bent out of shape over that, then we started using soapy water. But we would still sneak in a few times using diesel fuel, especially during cooler weather.

I stopped paving 8 years ago. They were running soap at that point. Diesel works best but I can certainly understand not wanting an asphalt dissolving chemical inside of your road. It was mostly the state jobs that got bent out of shape about it and theirs was the worst sticker anyway because it had rubber in it.
